Too good to be true...
Onesies are just so easy. In a shirt and pants, her shirt is always flipping up and her diaper is hanging out of her pants, but since she never gets any use out of her shirts, we had her in one yesterday. Of course this means we play with her belly nonstop by giving her raspberries and tickling her…
With all that belly loving, Nat noticed a couple little bumps on her belly, pretty much skin colored but just slightly pink and called it a rash. It was so slight I thought it might have to do with the changing weather, but last night after her cereal dinner and during her bath, I noticed a red patch on her back. When we inspected, it looks like she does have some kind of prickly red rash. It’s a few small hives on her back and little prickly pink bumps on her belly.
OF COURSE SHE’S ALLERGIC TO THE CEREAL THAT SHE LOVES. Her one source of nutrition if I’m not around since she still doesn’t take a bottle.
We haven’t introduced anything new besides the cereal – no new clothes or detergents that could have caused this. The nurse practitioner gave us an action plan: stop the cereal and see if it goes away. Then wait a couple weeks and start regular rice cereal (versus organic brown rice) and watch for a rash. In the meantime I could try a fruit or vegetable for 5 days once the rash disappears.
So we are back to milk only for the time being. And I'm going to talk to her doctor before starting anything new... Let's hope this doesn't mean she has a food allergy!
